Field Roast FieldBurger and Chao Cheese Review
The Full of Beans household is on the move! We sold our house in Connecticut and are temporarily staying in a rental cottage using a stove with 2 burners and no oven, and with limited storage. It is sweet, and a great reality check of how little we actually need to be happy and healthy. However, not having a full kitchen has presented some challenges! So, we decided it was an excellent time to try some prepared vegan foods, like the Field Roast FieldBurger.
Time for Pub-Burgers, Field Roast FieldBurger Style
On a sunny day when it was still warm enough to eat outside, we made pub-style burgers with Field Roast’s Fieldburger and Original Creamy Chao slices, complete with onions and mushrooms and some romaine lettuce. We pan fried the burgers as directed and were pleased that they held their shape well and flipped without sticking to the pan. Once flipped, we added the Chao cheese, but had to finish up the melting in the microwave for about 10 seconds before assembling the sandwich because we didn’t want to overcook the burgers.
Time To Eat
The texture of the Field Roast FieldBurger and cheese was really good. Pleasantly, the burger held together with a moist and meaty texture and the cheese was smooth and creamy – exactly what you expect from a slice of cheese! We both thought the burger was delicious. It had a distinctly herby taste. Pairing with the cheese, mushrooms and onions made for a fabulous sandwich–you know, the kind that makes you sad when it is over. 🙂
Perfect for Vegan “Gobblers”
For those of you who have celebrated Thanksgiving in the USA, and experienced a sandwich called a “gobbler” (traditionally left over turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy), these burgers would make an amazing vegan version. That will definitely happen and we’ll probably share on social media (you are following us, right?).
Amazing Cheese
The Chao cheese is quite extraordinary. Having made my own vegan cheeses, both soft, creamy cheeses, and those firm enough to slice, I appreciate how difficult it is to achieve the cheese texture that can slice and still melt. With this cheese, you get all that as well as amazing taste. I mean, you could fool any omnivore with this stuff! It is so good that our daughter has said she could eat the whole package of slices, plain, one after the other!

Both these products get a solid thumbs up from us. We’ve tried many of the Field Roast products and find that they consistently offer a delicious and high quality vegan alternative to many meat and dairy products. While we most often maintain a whole foods approach to eating, it is great to know that these options are there to enjoy and share. So, give these products a try and let us know what you think!
